All other areas have ice, not very thick yet; able to throw a rock and break through. There is no official monitoring of the ice thickness; so please use EXTREME CAUTION when going on the ice!

Aug 30, 2011 Smartphone Apps
Primary Region Effected: All Regions (National)

When an emergency occurs, those who act fast can often help mitigate the extent of damage or injury. This is especially true in cases of missing children. The sooner the authorities are notified and have a detailed description, the greater the chances of a safe return.

With this in mind, the FBI have developed and released a new smartphone app to help parents get the word out fast when a child goes missing. This critical app stores photos and vital description details that can be emailed to authorities–or displayed on the phone–in an instant. (This free app is currently for iPhone only, and can be downloaded in the iTunes App Store.)

People without smartphones can contact their local law enforcement and ask about a Child ID kit that, similar to the Child ID app, stores photos, important details and even fingerprints to help locate a missing child.

For more tips and information, contact your local police station or the FBI at http://www.fbi.gov.

Road around the lake is still accessible by car. At the north end and west side of the lake there is a lot of mud and light snow especially in the shady areas.

The following fishing access areas are accessible by car
Mallard Cove, Coot Bay, Lightening Tree, Jenkins, Camp Five and Eagle Point, Honker Cove Boat Ramp (just be mindful of the logging trucks and equipment)

Mosquito Slough has a lot of snow on the access road, would recommend four wheel drive (there was a nice rooster tail of snow behind the jeep and a lot of sliding coming back out, even in 4wd)

Cow Creek, 4 wheel drive with a high clearance. Lots of snow and mud puddles. Large puddle across the road where it forks. Did not go on down.

Please include chains for your vehicle, as the weather might change during your stay!
