Winter bite is starting to be good!!

There have been a few ice fishermen near the dam.  The thickness is reported to be about five inches.  Using nightcrawlers they caught about 25 fish.  They also tried Powerbait, but it was slow.

Stop by the store and say hello, and let us know how you do.

The winter is almost on us. The bite continues to be good!!

The lake has a thin layer of ice forming in most areas from our snow from the last few days.  It is still NOT thick enough for ice fishing! Stop by the store and say hello, and let us know how you do.

Fall bite continues to be good!!

Bank fishing has been good just past the buoys by the dam spin casting with Kraftmaster’s.  Powerbait in rainbow was also producing results.  Yesterday at Mallard Cove the bite was slow.

Fly fishing at Camp 5 was very good yesterday in float tubes using woolly buggers.

North end of the lake at Fairview and Mosquito Slough has ½’ to 1” of ice in the coves.

As of Tuesday December 1st, access all the way around the lake is still doable, however, it is very muddy and in the shade snow packed and icy.

If you are bringing your boat, the ramp at Honker Cove is snow packed and icy, also PLEASE do not use the North side (right side of the boat ramp when you are facing it)…too shallow.

Stop by the store and say hello, and let us know how you do.

Fall bite continues to be good!!

Water temp at the north end of the lake is reported at 41 degrees and down towards the Honker Cove area it is reported to be 44 degrees.

Bank fishing has been best up at Fairview , using powerbait in rainbow, chartreuse or pink; or inflated nightcrawlers.  Coot Bay has also had good results for bank fishing.

Trolling shallow has seen good results with Dick Nite Copper Red Head being the lure to use this past weekend.  Other lures that are producing are Sockeye Slammer in Fire Tiger or Pink; Needlefish Chartreuse Scale; and, Rainbow Runner in Pink.  Don’t be timid about switching up the lures, if one pattern seems to stop working.

Fly fishing has been good at Mosquito Slough, Fairview, Lighten Tree, and Jenkins using woolly buggers, crystal bugger, wiggle nymphs, sheep creeks and pheasant tails.

If you are bringing you boat the ramp at Honker Cove has been icy in the morning, also PLEASE  do not use the North side (right side of the boat ramp when you are facing it)…too shallow.

Stop by the store and say hello, and let us know how you do.

Fall bite is hot!!

Bank fishermen at Fairview have been using powerbait in rainbow, chartreuse or pink; or inflated nightcrawlers.  At Mallards cove from the bank need to use either a long leader or a bobber with a stop at about 10 feet.  Fish are holding from the surface to ten foot.

Trolling has seen good results with most anything pink, especially Rainbow Runner and Sockeye Slammers.  Other lures that are producing are Dick Nite Copper Red, Sockeye Slammer in Fire Tiger, Needlefish Chartreuse Scale.  On Tuesday Larry was finding the bite shutting off on one color, would switch to another color and would pick right up.  In four hours he caught over 30 fish and kept 5 nice 2.5 to 3 pounds each.

Fly fishing has been good at Mosquito Slough, Fairview , Lighting Tree, and Jenkins using a snail pattern, woolly buggers, and crystal bugger in olive.

If you are bringing you boat when you launch at Honker Cove PLEASE do not use the right side of the boat ramp when you are facing it…too shallow.

Stop by the store and say hello, and let us know how you do.
